Meet the team

We are proud to have such dedicated members in our organization. We are always looking for anyone who would like to volunteer their time and efforts to such a needed cause. We have had a number of college students and even some high school students join us at our events. We are also proud to have a number of Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, and other health care workers volunteering and serving on our board.

Omolabake Fadeyibi, RN, MA, MSN, FNP-BC

CEO and Founder of LabakCare

Omolabake has a BSN, MSN, MA-Health education, and a FNP-BC. She founded LabakCare in 2006 because of her desire to help those who were not able to get proper health care treatment. She is always thinking of ways to help underpriveledged communities both domestically and internationally. Her close family and close friends sometimes tease her and say "you are on a mission to save the world."

 

Omolabake's nursing career started back in Lagos Nigeria where she graduated from nursing School in 1977 and midwifery school in 1980. She worked in registered nursing as well as nurse midwife positions in Government Hospital in Lagos Nigeria. She became a public Health Nurse in 1985 and worked as a Public Health Nursing Sister in a Health Center in Lagos Nigeria.

 

In the US, Omolabake worked as a registered nurse in the labor and delivery unit at Temple University hospital in Philadelphia for several years. She started teaching clinical nursing as adjunct professor of nursing in maternity, health assessment, and community health nursing since 2005 til present. She also presently works as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner for FamCare Inc, that serve the low or no income communities in Vineland NJ.

Dave Nwamuo

Vice President

Dave Nwamuo is a Clinical Operations Manager at Catalent Pharma Solutions who received his Bachelor's degree in Biology/Biological Sciences from the University of California, Davis. He is experienced with a demonstrated history of working in the pharmaceutical industry, in biotechnology, with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Life Sciences, CRO Management, and Validation.

Dr. Oloruntosin Adeyanju, MD

Medical Director

Oloruntosin Adeyanju received her M.D. and Pediatric Residency training from Emory University in GA. She subsequently received fellowship training in Pediatric Hospital Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic and is now an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Washington University in St. Louis. As a pediatrician, the health of all children and by extension all families is a natural passion. Through health screenings and education, Labakcare’s mission of improving health in underserved communities directly aligns with these interests.

 

Iyabode Adewale, Pharm D, MBA, RPH

Pharmaceutical Director

Born in Plateau State of Nigeria in 1956 to Christian Baptist parents, Iyabode learnt from her early age the blessings in giving and sharing whatever one has, big or small. She is an Alumnus of the University of Ife, Ile Ife, Nigeria and the University of Florida, USA.

 

Iyabode has worked in several hospitals both in Nigeria and the USA and also in retail pharmacies. A diabetes educator, she is in retail pharmacy business in Pennsylvania State, USA with three other pharmacists as partners.

At her mother’s funeral service, she prayed for the strength and enablement, not only to continue with her parents’ ministry of giving, but for God’s grace to improve on theirs by going out to meet the needy and not just waiting for them to come to her for help.

 

The answer to her prayers came with the introduction of Labakcare to her by a friend and member of the group, Funmi. Leah as commonly called, loves traveling and learning in ‘real life’ the history and culture of all of God’s creation with no discrimination or boundaries.She is blessed with children and grandchildren who have been beautifully and wonderfully made.

Martyna Werder, BSN, RN, CLC

Wellness Director

Martyna studied nursing at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. She graduated in 2014 with her BSN and has served moms as they welcome their babies in downtown Philadelphia hospitals for the past 5 years. She is passionate about maternal-child health, breastfeeding education, and improving health literacy. Working with LabakCare allows her to share her love for people with likeminded individuals and serve others.

Folaji Fadeyibi, MBA, PMP 

Program & Project Director

Folaji holds a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, an MBA, and Project Management Professional Certification. Although he has spent most of his career in the energy sector, he is able to utilize his knowledge in Project Management to help LabakCare plan and organize international and domestic medical missions.

Dr. Bitrus Gwamna, PhD

Executive Administration

Bitrus Paul Gwamna holds a B.Sc. in mass communication from the University of Lagos Nigeria, and an M.A. in journalism from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois.He is also a graduate of Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, having obtained a Ph.D. in communication from that institution in 1992.

 

Dr. Bitrus Gwamna began his career as a broadcast journalist with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Kaduna.  He also taught at various institutions in the state of Ohio, before his appointment to the faculty of Iowa Wesleyan College where he was a full time tenured professor before the communication program was discontinued in January 2015. 

 

Dr. Gwamna has presented several conference papers, some as joint presentations with his spouse, Dr. Olabisi T. Gwamna. He now consults as an editor on theses, dissertations and journal articles. He is a past president of the Mount Pleasant Evening rotary Club in the state of Iowa; Past Grand Knight St. Alphonsus Council in Mount Pleasant Iowa; President Midwest Branch of Zumunta USA; past chairman of the board of trustees of Zumunta USA; President Southern Kaduna in the Diaspora (SOKADUSA).

Molly Ruiz
LabakCare Student Organization
President

Molly Ruiz is a 2nd-year medical student at the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. She obtained her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Anthropology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and her Master’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences from Drexel University. Prior to medical school, Molly enjoyed working as an EMT, Medical Scribe, Teaching Assistant, and engaging in Global Health mission trips. Growing up in an immigrant family and in a disadvantaged neighborhood, Molly understands the challenges faced by patients from underserved communities and is passionate about providing patients with access to preventative health education and medical care. As President of the LabakCare Student Organization at the Drexel University College of Medicine, Molly plans to advance the mission of the LabakCare Organization by promoting a spirit of service and collaboration within the student body and by empowering patients from underserved communities with the tools and resources to live healthy lives.

Nina Fassnacht
LabakCare Student Organization
Vice President

Nina Fassnacht is a 2nd-year medical student at the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Nina had worked for 3 years as an EMT and medical assistant prior to medical school. She has an ever-growing passion for working with underserved communities and aspires to continue to do so both locally and globally in the future as a physician. Nina was excited to get involved with the LabakCare Organization during her first year at Drexel as her goals align so well with their mission. As Vice President of the LabakCare Student Organization she hopes to engage more Drexel students to join and help provide care to the underprivileged communities LabakCare Organization is dedicated to serving.

Harry Lin
LabakCare Student Organization
Secretary

Harry Lin a 2nd-year medical student at the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He received his Bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Berkeley and finished his Master’s degree in Global Health Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco. As an immigrant himself from Myanmar and having done research in Global Health, he is passionate about engaging in public health as an aspiring physician as well as serving underserved, vulnerable populations and communities. As secretary of the LabakCare Student Organization, he hopes to help provide local communities with better access to care, improving the lives of many in the greater Philadelphia area.

Maya Amy
LabakCare Student Organization
Treasurer

Maya Amy is a 2nd-year medical student at the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Hamilton College in New York. Prior to medical school she worked as a vaccine analytics scientist in Bluebell, PA. Having grown up in the Philadelphia area, Maya is passionate about providing care to the local underserved communities.

Joan R. Bloch, PhD, CRNP

Board Advisor

Joan R. Bloch, PhD, CRNP, is Associate Professor of Nursing (tenured), and has secondary appointments as Associate Professor of Nutritional Science and Public Health at Drexel University. In her over 30+ years experience as an educator, she has extensive experience supervising master’s and doctoral level students in the field of women’s health. Since 1981, Dr. Bloch has practiced as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and most currently, practices in a public-funded prenatal clinic.

 

After completing a National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) post-doctoral research fellowship, Dr. Bloch has maintained an active program of perinatal health disparities research. She has served as a Principal Investigator (PI) on 5 funded and 4 unfunded research projects. Dr. Bloch has authored 47 refereed/non-refereed journal articles, 4 book chapters, and 60 refereed paper and poster presentations. Dr. Bloch has been invited to serve on multiple research-related committees at the university and in professional nursing and public health organizations.

Toyin Fadeyibi, Pharm D, CCP 

Board Advisor

Oluwatoyin Fadeyibi received her doctorate in Pharmacy from Temple University, and her Master's in Public Health from Drexel University's School of Public Health. She enjoys using both of her backgrounds in her current role as a Clinical Pharmacy Consultant with the city of Philadelphia's Behavioral Health System where she serves as a Public health pharmacist.

She served as Vice President of Labakcare for 3 years, and helped to foster several partnerships, recruit and motivate volunteers and plan several successful medical missions. Her current role as Board Advisor focuses primarily on offering organizational direction, strategic advice that will continue to help broaden LabakCare's network and increase the impact of the Organization in communities locally and abroad.
